A LEOSA-credentialed and retired California Peace Officer, Kirk has accumulated over 35 years of experience in firearms use and training as a member of the United States Army, California Army National Guard, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), Tribal Patrol Officer, and California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS)-certified security officer. Kirk’s military time encompassed over 14 years of service with foreign deployments to the Federal Republic of Germany and three separate callouts for emergency response to the East German border during the height of the Cold War. Following his departure from the military, Kirk spent approximately 25 years with CDCR working as a full performance Corrections Officer assigned to multiple roles within the California penal system including: search and escort, secured housing unit (solitary confinement) operations, off-prison inmate workforce supervision, armed observation tower operations, armed outside-security fence operations, and supervisory experience as a correctional sergeant. Kirk’s post-retirement work has included four years of full time work as a Security and Patrol Officer with a central California-based Native American tribe. Kirk’s responsibilities in this capacity have included conducting investigations, responding to domestic violence calls, DUI detection and apprehension, responding to structure and car fires, and general criminal activity/calls for service. Kirk is a volunteer with various Central Valley-based CCW providers, the Lemoore Sportsman’s Club, and regularly volunteers with the Sierra Technical Advisory Group as a Range Safety Officer (RSO) and assistant instructor.
